"The choicest fruit of Hindustan", says Amir Khusro in his Persian verse, "for garden pride the mango is sought. Ere ripe, other fruits to cut we ban, but mango serves, ripe or not." Poetic, yet precise. People have always enjoyed ripe and raw mangoes alike. And perhaps no other fruit, when ripe or raw serves our taste buds as much as the mango does.
The Aamba Mahotsav is our way of showing
our appreciation for this wonderful fruit.
This annual programs hosted by the Konkan
Vikas Prathisthan in Mumbai, allows the
end consumer to enjoy the delicious mango
at an economical price, while ensuring
that the farmer does not suffer financially.
This indirectly improves the quality of
life of the residents of this region.
This event gives the farmer a fair price
for his quality and hard work. The festival
and its location provide both, the farmers
and consumers a variety of options to
choose from. As the farmers sell their
product directly, they are able to interact
with their customer without the interference
of any middlemen.
